RELIEF HGV DELIVERY DRIVER

The Job

This position will report to the Warehouse & Distribution Manager. The aim of the job is to provide a consistently reliable high standard of customer delivery service through intelligent product handling and high levels of customer vehicle and road care. Drivers can earn a monthly bonus for excess distance or drop numbers.

The HGV driver will be responsible for the following:

• Daily delivery to both business-to-business customers (inc our own showrooms) and some private deliveries.
• High standards of customer care and courtesy including off loading and locating the delivery to the customers need.
• Vehicle loading and route planning for efficient use of the vehicle and safety of the load (in liaison with the W&D Manager).
• Checking the vehicle daily for any operational problems.
• Digital tachograph use and compliance.
• Reporting daily any damage or vehicle defects.
• Compliance with safe working practices at all times.

Working hours are 45 hours per week or as necessary to discharge all deliveries daily within the law. The company's operating hours are from approximately 06.30am and we would expect all drivers to be loaded and on the road by 7.30am. You will be required to cover holiday periods of other drivers (20 weeks per year minimum) and also be on hand to cover periods of unexpected absences at short notice, the position may suit someone of slightly older stature who is keen to work on a part-time basis although all parties are encouraged to apply.
